MFK Validation - Help

This Web application allows you to enter a Master File Key (MFK) number, and (optionally) a date. It will check to see if that MFK number is valid on that date (if provided). You can use the form of the previous page to enter the MFK, and press the Submit key when you have the form filled out. Fields that are left blank will default to 0 when the MFK is submitted. Allowable date formats are m/dd/ccyy, mm/d/ccyy, m/d/ccyy and mm/dd/ccyy.

This web-application will return a message (on the Result: line) indicating one of three things.

• Valid - The MFK that you supplied was valid. If available the result will also contain a description of the MFK.

• Invalid - The MFK that you supplied was invalid. The results should also indicate why the MFK was invalid.

• Unknown - This indicates an error in trying to check the validity of the MFK that you supplied. You should report this error to webmaster@apps.its.uiowa.edu.

Once you have the result of your query you can continue to check additional MFK numbers by going through the same process.
