In order to align with ASPEN guidelines, orders for adult parenteral nutrition (TPN) will default to dosing of TPN components on per daily quantities starting on Tuesday, 4/12/22. Previously, TPN components were ordered with respect to the volume of the prepared product (e.g. component per liter, per day). On Tuesday, 4/12/22, all adult orders for currently admitted patients must be adjusted to component per-day dosing. The EPIC entries for adult TPN will be updated to facilitate this transition along with assistance from nutrition and clinical pharmacists on the unit. Below are select changes to the Adult TPN order entries. Please reach out to your unit clinical pharmacist or Jared Frye, 356-8734 or jared-frye@uiowa.edu, if you have any questions regarding these changes.
