A message to students

Dear Herky,

We are excited to have you on campus at the University of Iowa this fall! This email contains a few helpful updates and reminders about housing and dining: 

• Important dates approaching 
• Your personal room selection number 
• How to join our April 7 webinar 

Important Dates Approaching 
May 3: 

• Roommate requests are due in the housing application portal. 
• Living learning community applications are due in the housing portal.  

May 17: 

• Medical (ADA) Accommodations priority deadline.  

Your Room Selection Number 
The housing application opened January 12 with more than 3,500 Hawkeyes applying on the first day, including over 2350 the first hour! Many of you have asked where you fall in line, and due to the record-breaking number of applications on day one, we want to provide everyone with clear expectations: 

• We have space for all new Hawkeyes that apply. 
• If you join a living learning community, you will have a space reserved for you within that LLC's location.
• Most first year Hawkeyes can expect to live in a double occupancy room in any of our 10 residence halls on both sides of the river. The space our Hawkeyes have to select from will depend on where they fall in line or where their living learning community is located.
• Triple occupancy rooms are most available in Burge, Daum (honors participants only), and Stanley. If you request two roommates online by the May 3 deadline, our staff will work so that you can select a triple room. 
• Roommate requests must be submitted in the housing application portal by May 3. The roommate with the lower lottery number will select a room on behalf of the pair.  

Hawkeye, we received your housing application (individual date and time) making you Hawkeye number (individual number) in line to select your room and meal plan in June. Your specific date and time will be emailed in late May, and we will host a webinar walking you through the selection process.
