Wilson Sonsini Diversity Summit
The Wilson Sonsini 1L Student Diversity Summit will bring together diverse law students from around the country. The event will be held over the course of two days: beginning late afternoon on Thursday, March 17 and all day Friday, March 18 at The Ameswell Hotel. During the summit, you will have the opportunity to: meet our attorneys; hear from lawyers about their different career paths; learn more about succeeding in big law; and practice the art of networking. We will provide concrete advice to help you succeed.

2022 Diversity Fellowships/Scholarship Opportunities

2022 Summer Judicial Internship Diversity Project
The Judicial Resources Committee of the United States Judicial Conference and Just the Beginning – A Pipeline Organization is pleased to announce the annual Summer Judicial Internship Diversity Project (“SJID Project”). The SJID Project’s goal is to provide highly qualified law students from socioeconomic, ethnic, and
cultural backgrounds underrepresented in the legal profession with summer judicial internships in the chambers of federal and state appellate judges, federal district judges, and federal bankruptcy and magistrate judges. The SJID Project is national in scope and seeks to place approximately 100 law students as judicial interns acrossthe country.
Interns will have the opportunity to draft bench memoranda, judicial orders, and opinions on a variety of substantive matters, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, magistrate judge reports, and habeas corpus petitions. Applicants should possess strong research and writing skills and be prepared to handle
the rigors of working in a court.

2022 1L Delaware Diversity Job Fair Fellowship Program
The Delaware Diversity Job Fair Committee (DDJF) of the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA) is excited to announce its 2022 1L Fellowship. The Job Fair was founded by a consortium of Delaware law firm, corporate, and public sector/interest legal employers interested in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Delaware bar by encouraging interested law students to explore summer and fulltime opportunities to work in Delaware.

Dinsmore Diversity Scholarship Program
We are proud to offer a unique opportunity for a first-year law student to split their summer associate experience between Dinsmore and Procter & Gamble, a global consumer goods company. One first-year scholarship recipient will be a salaried summer associate for both P&G and Dinsmore, splitting a 12-week period between both organizations' Cincinnati, Ohio offices.
We are also offering an opportunity for a salaried summer associate position at Dinsmore and will spend up to half of their summer associate experience with Lockheed Martin. The recipient will also receive the scholarship from Dinsmore, a housing stipend, and be assigned a dedicated mentor.
Additionally, we offer a unique opportunity for a first-year law student to split their summer associate experience between Dinsmore and Humana, Inc., located in Louisville, KY. One scholarship recipient will be a salaried summer associate at both Dinsmore and Humana, Inc., spending half of the 10-week summer associate program with Dinsmore and half with Humana, Inc.'s Legal Department receiving summer associate salary from each respective employer.
We are also offering an opportunity for a first-year law student to split their summer associate experience between Dinsmore and global restaurant company Yum! Brands, Inc. One scholarship recipient will be a salaried Dinsmore summer associate, who will spend half the 12-week summer associate program in the Yum! Brands corporate headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky.

Federal Defender Services Program Diversity Fellowship Program
The Fellowship Program will seek to enhance the quality of representation provided under the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) by creating a pipeline of diverse attorneys qualified to join Federal Defender Offices or CJA panels. Diversity among CJA counsel supports the cultural competency necessary to meet the needs of a diverse clientele and can lead to better case outcomes by fostering greater trust on the part of CJA clients.
The Fellowship Program will place 12 fellows in Federal Defender host offices across the country for two years, during which fellows will gain federal criminal defense training and experience to allow them to represent clients in non-capital CJA cases. Fellows will matriculate as a class. Each class will have a number of opportunities for joint training, mentorship, and other group activities. Fellows will receive a salary and benefits. The salary range for non-capital fellows will be the Judiciary Salary Plan (JSP) 11/1, 12/1, or 13/1, depending on experience, which is comparable to the federal General Schedule (GS) pay scale. The salary will also reflect locality adjustments.
The Diversity Fellowship Program is open to graduating 3L students and recent law school graduates. A successful Fellow must be a talented advocate and legal writer, possess research skills, be team oriented, and be committed to public defense or related public interest law work.

Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Conference
The Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America welcomes applications to its second annual Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Conference, to be held February 24-26, 2022. The conference is open to individuals who have accepted a 2022-2023 federal clerkship (district court or court of appeals) or a 2022-2023 state appellate court clerkship. The 2022 conference is currently planned to take place in person on our campus. Conference details may be found here: Conference Details.
Over the course of the conference, conferees will receive opinion writing instruction from some of our nation's most distinguished members of the judiciary. They will also be guided through writing an appellate court opinion and will receive individual review and commentary on their work by our faculty, all judges or former judicial clerks themselves.
Conferees will be limited to twenty-five. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance until the limit of conferees is reached.

Kelly IP Diversity Fellow Program
Kelly IP is pleased announce its first annual 1L Diversity Fellow Program. Kelly IP’s 1L Diversity Fellow Program awards one fellowship annually to a first-year law student from a background traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession who wants to explore a career in trademark and copyright law. The 1L Diversity Fellow will spend 6-8 weeks (at the Fellow’s election) as a paid summer associate at Kelly IP. The Fellow will also receive formal mentorship from at least one partner and one associate at Kelly IP during the summer and throughout the following academic school year, and participate in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) 1L Scholars Program.
The 1L Diversity Fellow program is open to all first-year law students from a group historically underrepresented in the legal profession that is currently enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school with demonstrated interest in trademark and copyright law.

Deborah T. Poritz Summer Public Interest Legal Fellowship Program Summer 2022
Legal Services of New Jersey (LSNJ) invites applications from first and second year law students for the Deborah T. Poritz Summer Public Interest Legal Fellowship Program beginning on May 31, 2022. This paid fellowship is the perfect opportunity for students committed to or considering public interest and poverty law to learn about the challenges and rewards involved.

Public Defender Mentorship Program
The Iowa State Public Defender will offer a Monday Mentors program beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 or later if warranted. It will take place every Monday thereafter at the same time and via the same zoom link provided below. The idea is to provide a time for young public defenders, contract attorneys, and aspiring law students to ask questions whether related to a specific case, criminal defense in general, or career questions, and obtain feedback and guidance from others similarly situated and from defense attorneys with years of experience. Breakout rooms will be provided as needed to facilitate communication. We hope you take advantage of this program. Aaron Hawbaker will moderate the meetings.
