A new patient care tower on the university campus is one of several major projects aimed at transforming UI Health Care’s ability to care for Iowans in future decades. To prepare for its construction, several early phase projects are necessary. UI Health Care will request budget approval at the June Iowa Board of Regents meeting to proceed with these projects.

UI Health Care is requesting permission from the Iowa Board of Regents to sign a lease for a medical clinic at 2751 Northgate Drive on the east side of Iowa City. The new clinic will provide patients and community members with convenient, accessible primary care services and serve as the new home for UI Health Care’s Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Todd Pettys has been named dean of the UI College of Law, effective July 1. He has served as interim dean since January, and his appointment is for a term of up to two years. Pettys has been a member of the College of Law faculty since 1999, and he holds the H. Blair and Joan V. White Chair in Civil Litigation.

Sixteen UI students and alumni were chosen from more than 11,000 Fulbright Award applicants nationwide to represent the U.S. Department of State in nine countries as Fulbright scholars during the 2025–26 academic year. The students will teach English abroad, serve in local community organizations, enroll in graduate studies at cutting-edge universities, and conduct research and creative arts projects.

At the June Iowa Board of Regents meeting, the UI will request final approval of three facilities projects: the expansion of the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories, renovation of the Cambus Maintenance Facility, and phase two of the Duane Banks Baseball Stadium renovations. The UI also will seek permission to raze three structures to enable work for the planned patient care tower.
