The University of Iowa Dental Alumni Association and the College of Dentistry selected Dr. Frederick Regennitter for the 2020 Leadership of the Year Award. Dr. Regennitter came to the University of Iowa over 50 years ago, and since then, he has made a difference in the lives of his patients, his fellow dental officers in the military, his students and residents, and in research. Starting last week and for the next two editions of the DSB Weekly, the College of Dentistry will be announcing each of our four alumni award recipients. Dental Student Halloween Service Project
The D2, D3, and D4 classes used some class funds to purchase materials for Halloween Goodie Bags. The students placed a children’s toothbrush and a brushing chart for kids to fill out in each bag, and in total, made 150 bags. The students distributed the goodie bags to Purple Bloom, Learn-A-Lot Child Care and Melrose Daycare on Friday morning before Halloween. Since many children were likely to experience a different kind of Halloween this year without a traditional trick-or-treat experience, the students wanted to spread some holiday cheer.

Green Roses for Peace and Harmony
If you are in the Dental Science Building, you may have noticed green roses displayed throughout the college. Dr. John Hellstein placed them along with a note saying "We Stand Together." Although green roses can symbolize many things, Dr. Hellstein chose them because they represent peace and harmony. May we stand together for the good of one another and our community.
