Art History: Emma Fuchtman, Maryellen Lerg | | | Matt Bowman (Art History PhD student) began his year-long Wyeth Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum this semester.
He is researching across the Smithsonian museums and working on his dissertation, Contested Lands, Fraught Waters: Images of Taos Pueblo and its Northern New Mexican Terrain, 1900-1970, under the mentorship of curators and staff members.
So far, Bowman has presented his topic to the Smithsonian community, given a gallery talk on Walter Ufer’s painting After Them, and enjoyed facility tours and professionalization activities with the other Fellows. He will also work at The National Archives and Library of Congress. | | | | Kurt Tomerlin's (MFA Printmaking student) solo exhibition delicate hold is on display at UIHC Project Art through December 1.
Tomerlin draws with hammers that are meant to pound and etches with clamps that are meant to hold. Their work explores themes of craftsmanship, identity, and the relationship between tools and the body.

Camacho translates everyday objects into figurative pieces using texture, scale, and alteration to create more complex narratives, inviting the viewer to look with empathy and connect with kindness.

Untitled II and Untitled IV were recently in the solo exhibition A Journey on the High Line in NYC and are part of a five-year loan to the Stanley Museum.
Jackson is an acclaimed contemporary artist known for his transformative work over five decades, including expressive, figurative paintings and monumental steel sculptures.
oliverleejackson.com | | | Zhiheng Gong (BFA 3D Design 2020) is one of three artists selected for the 22nd Betsy Meyer Memorial Exhibition at Main Line Art Center in Bryn Mawr, PA through December 20. The show highlights emerging voices in sculpture and contemporary practice.
Gong's work explores folded structures, material tension, and the quiet dialogue between body and space. His practice bridges contemporary sculptural design and traditional Chinese lacquer craftsmanship (daqi).

Delgado builds transitory worlds through papier-mâché sculpture, constructed cardboard spaces, and the interplay of light and shadow. They are currently a Lecturer in Studio Art at Cornell College.
