| | | | The RDO is pleased to partner with Dr. John Robertson from Grant Writers' Seminars & Workshops (GWSW) to conduct the Write Winning Grant Proposals seminar that will be held on Thursday, October 15 at 8:30am-4:30pm in the Iowa Memorial Union (IMU). In-person and virtual options are available. Registration fee is $200 and includes seminar, workbook, supplemental materials, and lunch. Some colleges are sponsoring a certain number of spots on a first-come, first-served basis and for those who meet the eligibility requirements for sponsorship. The seminar is a pre-requisite to the intensive workshop that is scheduled for January 11-12, 2027. See the webpage for more details.

Throughout the sessions, participants will develop a mentoring compact, contract, or philosophy for use in mentoring practices. Topics include: maintaining effective communication, setting expectations, assessing understanding, promoting independence, and mentoring through differences.

| | | The Recovery-Friendly Hawkeye Initiative (RFHI) aims to position the University of Iowa as a national leader in Recovery-Friendly Workplace practices by fostering a “culture of care” that supports well-being, mental health, and recovery. In addition to creating an inclusive environment for those impacted by substance use disorders, RFHI advances both basic and applied research on addiction, treatment, and recovery, spanning foundational science through implementation and evaluation of evidence-based interventions and policies.
RFHI will convene an initial campus-wide in-person meeting on Wednesday, July 15 from 9am-2pm to connect service providers and researchers working across prevention, treatment, and recovery. The event will feature lightning talks, roundtable discussions, and opportunities to build collaborations and identify future directions.

To assist faculty in submitting proposals that are more successful, the RDO facilitates external reviews for proposals to external funding agencies. External review of proposals prior to submission will provide critical feedback in order to strengthen the proposal and improve the overall likelihood of success.
