College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Dear CLAS Students,

It is wonderful to see so many of you on campus this fall, and I hope your first week is going well!

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the largest college at Iowa and the very heart of this university, making it the ideal place to discover and explore a wide range of academic programs and create your own story.  But I also believe you will find a strong sense of community and connection here in CLAS through your classes, friends, and activities.  You belong in CLAS!

I encourage you to reach out to my office, CLAS Undergraduate Programs (CLAS UP), any time.  We are here answer your questions about college policies, connect you with your departmental advisor, support you with academic challenges, and help you understand graduation requirements. We’ll be with you every step of the way to understand your interests and goals, help you chart your own path, and support your success here at Iowa.

Our college may be big, but we see CLAS as a community where every voice matters, and we'd love to hear from you, too—we're here to help.

I wish you a great fall semester and look forward to seeing you around campus.
