Hawkeye High-Five is a new recognition program that allows faculty and staff across the university to give a virtual “high-five” to a colleague for their contributions, teamwork, or extra effort. It’s a great way to show appreciation and highlight the positive work taking place on campus. Read about some of the first recipients.

President Wilson updates the Iowa Board of Regents

At the November Iowa Board of Regents meeting, UI President Barbara Wilson provided an update on the university’s efficiency efforts, including ending leases, turning off unused data ports, establishing a hub-and-spoke model for some business services, and auditing the effectiveness of the university's many social media channels. Jay Holstein, emeritus professor in the Department of Religious Studies, died Nov. 14 at age 87. For more than five decades at the University of Iowa, Holstein taught tens of thousands of students and became one of the institution’s most celebrated educators.

In the know: More news, information, and resources

  • Cambus will operate fall break service Nov. 22–29: There will be no service Nov. 22–23 and 27–29. During the break, service frequency is reduced on some routes and service after 8:45 p.m. on weekdays is provided by the On-Demand Shuttle. Use the Transit App or visit the Routes, Schedules, and Maps page for schedules.  
  • Rival Against Hunger 2025: Join fellow Hawkeyes in this annual food drive and friendly competition with ISU and UNI. Drop off items at donation boxes across campus or donate online by Dec. 5. The school with the most donations wins. UI donations benefit the Food Pantry at Iowa.
  • Volunteers needed for Overflow Test Center: During finals week, the Overflow Test Center provides time and space for makeup exams and accommodated testing. Volunteers are needed for room set-up, proctoring, and processing completed exams.
  • Construction alert for North Campus Parking and Chilled Water Facility: The university's utility operator, Engie, will be making improvements to the chilled water facility at 340 N. Madison St. that will cause construction-related closures through August 2026.
  • No Iowa Now email Nov. 27: Due to fall break and the university holiday next week, there will be no Iowa Now email. Check your inboxes on Dec. 4 for the next edition.
