Beginning in fall 2026, the UI will offer an undergraduate Certificate in Artificial Intelligence to students from all academic backgrounds. Students will gain an understanding of AI’s capabilities, limitations, and ethical implications, along with practical experience using AI tools to help them succeed in an AI-driven world.

The documentary film Breath by Breath chronicles the lives of people affected by cystic fibrosis and groundbreaking research conducted at UI Health Care that has led to advances in treatment. The premiere of the film will take place at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in Prem Sahai Auditorium (1110A) in the Medical Education and Research Facility, followed by a Q&A with UI physician Michael Welsh. The UI has replaced its Compliance and Ethics Reporting hotline with an online application. The form provides an anonymous, confidential way to report concerns about a range of issues from financial misconduct to data privacy. The form should not be used to report discrimination, harassment, or student conduct, which are handled by the Office of Civil Rights Compliance and the Office of Student Accountability.

Elizabeth Catlett — the first Black woman to earn an MFA from the UI and the namesake of Catlett Residence Hall — created a lasting legacy in the art world as a sculptor and printmaker. - Reminder, retirement plan changes open Friday: Starting at noon Friday, employees with TIAA retirement plans can update their investment choices as part of the plan enhancements. Learn more at tiaa.org/iowa_2025. The deadline to make changes is 3 p.m. Sept. 12.
- Listserv to be discontinued next year: Information Technology Services will discontinue the Listserv platform in December 2026 to improve the efficiency and security of UI email systems and provide users with more modern and flexible communication options.
