Khalastchi named executive director of new Office of Writing and Communication

Daniel Khalastchi has been named executive director of the University of Iowa’s new Office of Writing and Communication. Since joining the university in 2011 to help establish the Magid Center for Writing, Khalastchi has played a key role in expanding student opportunities and stewarding major donor support.

UI launches reSPARC to build upon, maintain financial strength

The UI is launching a campuswide initiative as part of the 2022-27 Strategic Plan to explore long-term strategies for increasing revenue and improving operational efficiency. The goal of the Revenue Generation and Efficiencies Strategic Plan Action and Resource Committee (reSPARC) is to identify and propose initiatives that ensure Iowa maintains its strong financial trajectory for years to come.

Reminder: Residence hall move-in begins this weekend

Get ready to welcome our new class of Hawkeyes to campus! New and returning students will move into the residence halls beginning this weekend and continuing throughout next week. Please be aware of the extra people and vehicles when commuting to and from work and while parking on campus. And if you see someone who may need help with directions or who may have a question, please step in and offer assistance.

  • Construction alert: As construction continues on the new Arena Ramp near Carver-Hawkeye Arena and the Dental Science Building, be aware of these new road and parking lot closures.
  • Tree removal near Lindquist Center: This week, five river birch trees in poor condition are being removed from the Lindquist Center courtyard as part of an Engie sanitary sewer modification project. Once construction is complete, the area will be replanted.
  • New to Iowa? Be sure to use the official brand email signature: The brand manual provides an email signature template to establish your professional affiliation with the university. Outlook instructions and guidelines detail how to include your job title and credentials, use unit-specific hyperlinks, and set alt text to meet accessibility standards.
