NIH No-Cost Extension Functionality in eRA Commons

NIH notice NOT-OD-25-142 provides an update on the guidance issued in NOT-OD-25-110. Effective with the issuance of this Guide Notice on August 7, 2025, NIH has re-enabled the No-Cost Extension functionality within eRA Commons. Recipients may resume initiating first no-cost extensions in eRA Commons, in accordance with the NIH Grants Policy Statement, Section 8.1.1.3.

Requests that were previously submitted via the prior approval module will not be reviewed, and recipients will need to initiate the first no cost extension within the Status module by using the Extension action.

UI recipients who submitted prior approval requests for no-cost extensions should email dsp-nih@uiowa.edu to ask DSP staff to initiate the first no cost extension in the Commons.

If you have questions, please contact dsp-nih@uiowa.edu.

NASA New RPPR Webform

NASA has implemented a new webform for submitting required performance reports. Effective August 13, 2025, all RPPRs must be submitted via the webform available at the following link: https://www.nasa.gov/grant-cooperative-agreement-research-performance-progress-report-submission/.

The cover page is created during the webform submission, and the required data elements for the cover page are included as part of the process.

Please note that the required RPPR format and instructions for NASA grants are outlined in the NASA Grants and Cooperative Agreement Manual, Section 29.1: Performance Report Requirements.  To avoid delays in review and approval, please ensure that your report follows the NASA-required format and is submitted through the webform.

If you have any questions, please contact your NASA Grant Officer via the NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC) Contact Center
