University of Iowa College of Pharmacy Dean Jill Kolesar was named to Forbes’ 2025 50 Over 50 list, which recognizes female entrepreneurs, inventors, and artists whose work impacts people across the country. Kolesar was recognized in the innovation category for her cancer treatment research and making those treatments accessible to all patients.

Steve Fleagle, who has guided the UI’s information-technology enterprise for more than two decades, will retire in the fall of 2025 after 40 years of service to the institution. The university will conduct a national search for his replacement.

Updates will be implemented this fall to Nite Ride, the university’s free late-night transportation service, to provide more reliable options for employees and students. These changes include a set route based on frequently requested pick-up and drop-off locations, an earlier start time of 9 p.m., and the addition of Nite Ride on the UI Transit app so riders can track vehicles in real time.

The book offers step-by-step guidance on structuring theses, journal articles, and research proposals, as well as how to build sustainable and effective writing habits.

Iowa law students are already making an impact in communities, logging nearly 22,000 pro bono hours in 2024. These free legal services, mostly done in the state of Iowa, benefited service organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and judicial chambers, all while providing students opportunities for service work and development of their professional skills.

- North Campus Parking Ramp now cashless: New credit card-only payment equipment was installed this week at the North Campus Parking Ramp, 340 N. Madison St. across from the IMU. While cash payments are no longer accepted, users can pay by inserting a credit card or through tap to pay.
- Street closures for movie filming through Aug. 12: Several streets near Iowa City’s downtown will be closed at various times from today to Tuesday, Aug. 12, for the filming of a movie with historic ties to Iowa City. Transit routes also will be detoured. Read more about which streets will be closed each day.
