Dear colleague,
We are writing to share changes with you to the Living Learning Community program for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year.
On Friday, Feb. 14, the United States Department of Education Office for Civil Rights released a letter and after consulting with university leadership, we have chosen to no longer offer our three identity-based LLCs: All In (LGBTQ+), Unidos (Latinx), and Young, Gifted and Black (Black and African Diaspora).
We understand that this may be a decision you didn’t expect to receive. It is out of deep care and consideration that we are preparing for the upcoming year to provide minimal interruptions to students’ housing assignments. Our University Housing and Dining team will notify current community members and applicants in the upcoming days. We want you to be informed should you receive questions.
There is space available in the residence halls for all students who apply by the published deadlines. Students may participate in roommate matching and online room selection – returning students select this week and new students in June. Returning students can coordinate with friends to select rooms on the same floor. Members of the housing Contracts and Assignments team can assist with the assignment process by calling 319-335-3000 or emailing housing@uiowa.edu.
Students needing support may speak confidentially with University Counseling Service or Student Care and Assistance staff members.
We thank you for your support and understanding with these transitions. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Thank you,
Von Stange, Ed.D.
