Meenakshi Gigi Durham, professor and CLAS Collegiate Scholar, received the Michael J. Brody Award for Faculty Excellence in Service. The UI award recognizes outstanding faculty who have made exceptional contributions to the university and the community.
Bruce Bartholow, professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, has two upcoming research projects funded by significant grants from the NIH. He joined the college over the summer and is also the Ketchel Family Chair in Psychology.
Liz Mendez-Shannon, the college’s first fulltime director of DEI, received the Robert D. Ray Award for Equity and Justice from the Iowa Department of Human Rights. The award highlights her 15 years of experience.
Graduate student Fi Okupe is key in a partnership between the college and Johnson County. The project highlights Dr. Lulu Merle Johnson, the county’s new eponym and the first African American woman to receive a PhD from Iowa.
