Jeff Leiberton, a third-year student from West Des Moines, Iowa, was named a 2023 Goldwater Scholar. Leiberton’s research is in the area of theoretical physics, which uses mathematical models and abstractions to understand, explain, and predict natural phenomena.

Significant construction continues on the Interstate 80/First Avenue interchange in Coralville. If you want to enter I-80 while heading north on First Avenue, you will first have to merge with other northbound traffic, then turn right at the I-80 eastbound ramp where there is now a stoplight. Remember that this construction can cause significant delays, especially at peak traffic times. Avoid the area if you can.
