As we come to the end of the academic year, I am pleased to share some highlights from the Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative at Iowa Law. I also want to thank everyone who supported our programs, students, and collaborations. We are fortunate to work in partnership with so many amazing individuals and organizations.

Over the span of 18 events this academic year, HELI brought together more than 1,800 attendees, 98 different speakers, and 11 unique partner organizations. HELI events are now approved in Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota, Illinois, and Iowa. This expansion is set to serve a broader community of legal professionals engaged in environmental law across the Midwest. Read more here.

This year’s jump in ranking reflects the continued momentum and growth of the Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative. Iowa Law has made a notable leap in recent years—rising from not ranked to 88th two years ago, 70th last year, and continuing to climb into the top 50 this year.
Eight Iowa Law students were asked to support the American Bar Association’s (ABA) SEER Executive Order (EO) Tracking project by writing summaries of official EOs as they are issued during the start of the new presidential administration. Read about the project here.

Iowa Law’s Environmental Moot Court Team advanced to the quarterfinals at the Jeffrey G. Miller National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition (NELMCC) at Pace Law, highlighting the team's skills in oral argument and advocacy.
The Hubbell Environmental Law Initiative was created with the generosity of Iowa Law alumni Charlotte Beyer Hubbell (76JD) and Fred Hubbell (76JD) who recognized the urgency to address environmental issues in the state. The Hubbell gift gives Iowa Law the opportunity to make a difference.
