Hydrostation Partners and Hosts,
IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering (IIHR), the parent organization of the Iowa Flood Center, has been designing, building, and deploying field equipment to understand hydrologic conditions for decades. Pictured above, an IIHR researcher conducts early hydrometeorology studies that support the National Weather Service.
Last month, snowfall accumulations were approximately six inches below normal, with “snow drought” conditions across much of the state. As of early February, about 45% of the state was considered to be abnormally dry. Current flood threats across the state are low, though conditions can change rapidly based on the potential for additional snowfall, snowmelt, and the timing and amount of potential spring rains.
Real-time hydrostation data are available on the Iowa Flood Information System.
All hydrostation data (current and historic) can be accessed on the historical data platform. Each yellow square on the map represents a hydrostation. Click on the hydrostation of interest to view available data.
