The UI Stanley Museum of Art debuted a new poetry installation as part of its Thresholds series, featuring UI associate professor of English Donika Kelly’s work in the lobby through September. The rotating series highlights Iowa-affiliated poets and invites visitors — and classes — to experience poetry as both visual art and an interactive teaching tool.

As one of NASA’s most influential scientists, Green, originally from Burlington, Iowa, helped guide billion-dollar missions to Jupiter, Pluto, and Mars. After retiring, he reflects on the work he has done and how his time at Iowa launched him to success.

UI alumnus Samuel D. Hunter’s Broadway debut, Little Bear Ridge Road, received a Tony Award nomination for Best Play. Hunter, a 2007 graduate of the Iowa Playwrights Workshop and one of America’s most-produced playwrights, is nominated for the award only two years after another workshop graduate, David Adjmi, received the same award. Tony Award winners will be announced June 7.

- Be aware of closures for IMU renovation: From now until mid-June, portions of the River Terrace and upper sidewalk at the Iowa Memorial Union are closed for the IMU renovation project. In addition, the south entrance of the IMU will close May 18, and all pedestrian traffic will be routed away from that entrance.
- DeGowin Blood Center Blood Drive: UI Health Care’s DeGowin Blood Center will host a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, at the UI Health Care Iowa River Landing location, 105 E. Ninth St., Coralville. Find more information online.
