| | | Black History Month 2025 | Black History Month is observed every February in the U.S. Throughout the month of February, a variety of events and workshops are planned at the University of Iowa to recognize important contributions of Black Americans from a historical perspective. Iowa City is one of 62 communities nationwide participating in the NEA Big Read. This event features a community-wide reading of the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison. Get your free copy of Beloved at pickup locations across Iowa City between Jan. 20 and Feb. 12, 2025.
