UI sees continued progress in faculty retention efforts

The University of Iowa’s commitment to supporting faculty at every stage of their careers continues to strengthen retention. New data released by the Iowa Board of Regents shows that the UI’s faculty retention rate remained at 96.3% in FY 2025 — creating an environment that strengthens the UI’s academic mission, elevates the student experience, and expands the university’s impact in Iowa and beyond.

UI proposes closure of 6 low-enrollment undergraduate majors

After a review of low-enrollment programs, the University of Iowa is proposing closure of six undergraduate majors, each with fewer than 25 students. Two academic units within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are also recommended for closure, as the university aligns resources with student interest and workforce needs.

4 faculty members recognized with UI’s highest teaching honor

Four University of Iowa faculty members will receive the 2026 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence, recognizing exceptional, sustained contributions to student learning and success. Fleet Services to transition vehicle rental service to Hertz

Rate changes proposed for UI parking permits to support facility maintenance

UI Parking and Transportation is seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents to raise parking permit rates to support maintenance and improvements. Increases would range from $1–$6 per month depending on permit type, and some violation fees also would increase. If approved at the board’s April meeting, the rate changes would start July 1.
