March 2025 Hydrostation Report

Real-time hydrostation data continues to be available on the Iowa Flood Information System

Additionally, all hydrostation data (current and historic) is now being stored on our new historic data platform. Each yellow square on the map represent a hydrostation. Click on the hydrostation of interest to view available data.

March Hydrostation Maps

Total Precipitation

Total precipitation maps for March show, on average, accumulations of about 2 inches across the state, and some areas of northeastern Iowa with accumulations between 5 and 7 inches.

Average Soil Moisture

Average soil moisture at the surface shows almost saturated areas in southeastern Iowa (greater than 80%) , and values around 50% in northwestern Iowa; consistent with the national drought report.

Average Soil Temperature

Average surface soil temperature was above freezing temperatures across most of the state, with the lowest temperatures observed in Iowa's northern counties.

Average Wind Speed

Average windspeed indicate values less than 10mi/h across most of the state, with exceptions of higher windspeed in areas of central, northeastern Iowa and a few counties in northwestern Iowa.
