UI evaluating low-enrollment undergraduate programs

The University of Iowa is conducting a review of low-enrollment undergraduate majors to ensure they align with student demand, workforce needs, and the university’s educational mission. The review, led by the Office of the Provost, follows a recommendation in the Iowa Board of Regents’ 2025 Workforce Alignment Review of Programs Report.

Cambus receives $6.1M grant for hybrid buses

A $6.1 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration will enable Cambus to add six new diesel-electric hybrid buses to its fleet. The new buses will increase service reliability and rider comfort, and reduce operational costs.

UI wins $1.5M to accelerate materials science research

The U.S. Department of Defense awarded UI’s Materials, Analysis, Testing and Fabrication (MATFab) facility nearly $1.5 million for upgrades. The funding will help researchers study and develop new materials with potential uses ranging from remote sensors that detect toxins in water to faster, higher-resolution maps.   • Secure bike parking now available at Hawkeye Parking Ramp: The Hawkeye Parking Ramp located north of Kinnick Stadium offers secure, enclosed storage for up to 50 bicycles. Use your HawkID to purchase a bike parking permit on a first-come, first-served basis through the online Parking Portal.
  • New year, new passwords: January is a good time to improve habits that keep our university secure. By using strong passwords, multi-factor authentication, and proactive credential management, we can help protect everything we do at the university.
  • Cambus service for spring 2026 begins Tuesday: Cambus spring 2026 schedules will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 20. Due to a university holiday, buses will operate on the academic weekend schedules on Monday, Jan. 19. Updated schedules are available online now.
