Dear residents,

The cold weather is here and University Housing and Dining will be turning off the air conditioning units tomorrow until spring 2025. To protect your living space when it is cold outside, please close your windows and do not use your air conditioning unit. Open windows during extremely cold weather can increase the possibility of pipes freezing and breaking, which cause damage to your room and belongings, as well as those on floors below you. Make sure you check that your windows are locked before you leave for winter break.

Running air conditioners in below freezing temperatures will often ruin the compressor units that generate the cold air, making them unusable in warmer temperatures. Damage to your room, your belongings, or others’ belongings will be your responsibility to pay.

You can learn how to adjust the heat in your room by viewing the video for your residence hall at the link here. If your heat is not working properly, please submit a work order.
