Dear Stanley residents,
The cold weather is here and University Housing and Dining has turned the heat on in your residence hall. Stanley Hall is heated with steam. When the outside air falls below a predetermined temperature, the main supply valves to the building are automatically opened to allow steam to circulate throughout the building. You can learn how to adjust the heat in your room by visiting the link here. If your heat is not working properly, we advise you to submit a work order.
In order to protect your living space when it is cold outside, please close your windows and do not use your air conditioning unit. Open windows during extremely cold weather can increase the possibility of pipes freezing and breaking, which cause damage to your room and belongings, as well as those on floors below you. Running air conditioners in below freezing temperatures will often ruin the compressor units that generate the cold air, making them unusable in warmer temperatures.
Damage to your room, your belongings, or others’ belongings will be your responsibility to pay.
Sincerely,
Camryn Stinson, hall coordinator
Teresa Schmidt, office administrator
