Celebrating Our Graduates

May marks a season of celebration and new beginnings at the University of Iowa. Families, friends, faculty, and staff come together to honor the achievements of our graduating students. During this month’s ceremonies, the College of Engineering proudly conferred more than 300 degrees—including bachelor’s, master’s, and PhDs—launching the next generation of innovators and leaders into the next step of their journey. OPL, Test Pilot School partnership benefits students and U.S. Air Force

The partnership between the Operator Performance Laboratory and the U.S. Air Force has made the College of Engineering a destination for Test Pilot School officers seeking a PhD, including Maj. Kyle Smith, and aspiring airmen, including Beau Benzing.

Study: Volcano triggers year-long drop in atmospheric temperature

Iowa engineers investigating the 2022 Hunga Tonga–Hunga Haʻapai volcano in the South Pacific Ocean – the largest underwater explosion ever recorded – discovered volcanoes in the ocean affect Earth’s climate differently than landlocked volcanoes.
