Fifty-five UI colleges and programs are recognized among the best in their field in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings. Eleven of these programs received a top 10 ranking in the 2026 report, and the UI has 24 colleges and programs among the top 25 in the country.

Lynette Marshall to be honored at April 21 retirement reception
President Barbara Wilson invites campus members to attend a retirement reception for Lynette Marshall, outgoing president and CEO of the UI Center for Advancement. The event will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the Levitt Center for University Advancement. The event is open to the public. Parking is available in the surrounding UI lots.

Cristina Vidal, departmental executive officer and associate professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry at the UI College of Dentistry, is looking at new ways to stop cavities from spreading earlier. Her work informs how care is delivered in the dental college’s clinics, exploring new ways to slow disease and maintain tooth structure.

Work has begun on the renovation project that will transform the look of Finkbine Golf Course, home of the UI men’s and women’s golf teams and a popular public golfing spot. Updates will include an upgraded irrigation system, new bunker placements, and longer tee boxes to add variety to the holes. The course is expected to reopen in summer 2027.

When Jared Doerfler was pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the UI Tippie College of Business, he began writing an online newsletter about golf that grew into a dedicated audience. Doerfler took that success to start Hanna Golf, a custom putter company located in Cedar Falls, Iowa, that ships worldwide.
