ARPA-H Launches UPGRADE to Strengthen Hospitals’ Cybersecurity

ARPA-H’s latest program, UPGRADE (Universal Patching and Remediation for Autonomous Defense), aims to eliminate cyberattacks on hospitals by developing tools that proactively probe digital hospital environments for software weaknesses.  Once a threat is detected, a remediation (e.g., patch) would be automatically procured or developed, tested in the model environment, and deployed with minimum interruption to the devices in use in a hospital.

NEH Summer Stipends Webinar

The NEH will host a webinar on July 10, 2024 from 2pm-3pm EDT for nominators and prospective applicants. NEH staff will introduce the program, explain some changes for the 2024 competition, describe the application and nomination process, and offer some application-writing suggestions. There will be a chance to ask questions, captions will be available, and the webinar will be recorded so others can watch it later. Click here to register.

NEA: Local Arts Agencies National Cohort Program (LAANCP)

Description: The NEA seeks a Cooperator to manage the Local Arts Agencies National Cohort Program (LAANCP), a new initiative to broaden support to Local Arts Agencies (LAAs) by providing services such as dedicated coaching, virtual programming, access to on-demand resources, in-person convenings, networking, and peer learning activities. The NEA’s primary goals for this program are: 1) to build and strengthen a network of LAAs throughout the country and facilitate a multi-dimensional learning community for LAA leaders to exchange strategies and tools to respond to the field’s trends and learn from peers and the field’s experts; and 2) to offer resources and other assistance to LAAs based on best practices in the field.

NIH: Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) (T32)

Description: The goal of the Initiative for Maximizing Student Development (IMSD) program is to strengthen research training environments and promote broader participation in the biomedical research workforce by expanding the pool of well-trained scientists earning a Ph.D., for example, encouraging the inclusion of individuals from underrepresented groups. Specifically, this funding announcement provides support to eligible, domestic organizations to develop and implement effective, evidence-informed approaches to biomedical graduate training and mentoring that will keep pace with the rapid evolution of the biomedical research enterprise.

Reminder: NEH Summer Stipends 2025

Description: The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Division of Research Programs is accepting applications for the Summer Stipends program. The purpose of this program is to stimulate new research and publication in the humanities. Summer Stipends support continuous, full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. NEH funds may support recipients’ compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed scholarly research.
