Two Dental Alumni Speak Out on Medicaid Reimbursement for Dentists

Iowa Dental Association President Zach Kouri ('03 DDS) and Mike Stufflebeam ('00 DDS, '02 Ped) both wrote opinions for Iowa newspapers on the need to increase the reimbursement rate for Medicaid dental services. According to Kouri, the current payment structure means that a dentist will effectively be losing money to provide dental care to Iowa's Medicaid patients, and according to Stufflebeam, this means that families who have Medicaid dental coverage have to miss work and school to travel long distances to find dental care.
