P3 initiatives show continued success in supporting the strategic plan

In the second year of the 2022-27 strategic plan, several initiatives have already shown success in supporting faculty, staff, and students on campus. These efforts have contributed to boosting the TRACERS mission project ahead of its launch next year, as well as several avenues to support you and your family’s mental health.

Awards in Literature includes 3 recipients from Iowa Writers’ Workshop

Three writers with ties to the Iowa Writers’ Workshop are among the recipients of 2024 Awards in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The awardees include workshop alumnae Michelle Huneven and Elizabeth McCracken, and workshop director Lan Samantha Chang.

Westbound I-80 on-ramp at 242 to close April 2

If you are traveling on First Avenue in Coralville and want to head west on Interstate 80 at the 242 exit, be aware of a detour that will add extra time to your trip, according to the Department of Transportation. The closure begins April 2 and is expected to last until mid-June.

The next total solar eclipse will be viewable across the country on Monday, April 8, with Iowa City able to see a partial eclipse on that day. Ahead of witnessing this rare phenomenon, the UI Department of Physics and Astronomy will discuss how the sun functions in our solar system and how to safely view the eclipse during this online event at 5 p.m. April 2.

Dance company celebrating 100 years with Hancher performance

The Martha Graham Dance Company, founded by the renowned choreographer Martha Graham, is celebrating its 100th year and will perform at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at Hancher Auditorium. Graham’s Panorama will open the show and will be performed by 38 student dancers from the UI Department of Dance.
