**Spring Break Opportunities**
Ganje Law Office is currently adding an additional part time remote research clerkship position. The position will continue into the spring and perhaps thereafter. Ganje Law Office is a boutique, small firm. Mr. David Ganje is a former adjunct lecturer at Albany Law and other law schools.Prospective applicants should review the office website at lexenergy.net. We post for a remote 2L, 3L or post-graduate opportunity for applicants with strong academic credentials including excellent writing and research skills. The candidate will work directly with an attorney and support staff in areas of law indicated on the law firm website; much of the work relates to
natural resources and environmental law litigation and commercial law practice. Duties include:
- Confidential research and writing, drafting correspondence, assisting attorneys and staff with file
maintenance as well as trial preparation.
Candidates will work remotely but will have the opportunity to interact remotely with attorneys during client meetings and remote court hearings.
The position is currently open, and applications are now accepted for review.

Dean Emily Hughes will be working with the NCDC Advanced Cross Examination Workshop at The University of Iowa College of Law March 19 to 23. To ensure the conference's success, she needs the assistance of 10 students.
Duties include: Driving University Fleet Services vans to transport conference attendees to and from the airport and/or hotel – must have valid license for at least 3 years, and pass driving review and online safety course (not all students will be assigned a driving role, so if you do not have a license, you should still apply!)
- Assisting with food setup
- Printing materials
- Greeting and checking people in
- Running various errands that could include grocery runs, local transportation for conference guests, and other

The 1Ls who are interested in Big Law are invited to attend an on campus Luncheon to meet the Iowa Law alumni who are currently at Chapman and Cutler LLP Chicago to talk about the firm, what its like working there and what it takes to succeed. Lunch will be catered in. The attorneys from Chapman and Cutler are interested in meeting with students 1:1 after the session. However, the timeframe only allows for a small number of students to meet. If you are interested in meeting them 1:1 in the afternoon, please email Tami Diebel your resume and Chapman will contact as many students as they can for those 1:1s to coordinate.

The Cook County Bar Association is pleased to announce registration for the 42nd Annual Cook County Bar Association ("CCBA") Minority Law Student Job Fair ("Job Fair") is now open! This year we will host the job fair on June 6. The date has been moved up once again because employers are making offers even sooner and it is important that this Job Fair remains relevant.
Last year, approximately 70 employers and 500 law students participated in the job fair, resulting in a number of callbacks and job offers extended.

2025 Equal Justice Works Disaster Resilience Program
Equal Justice Works’ Disaster Resilience Program mobilizes Fellows (legal aid attorneys) and Student Fellows (law students) to provide free civil legal aid in disaster-prone areas to ensure vital legal services are accessible, comprehensive, and responsive to the unique needs of individuals, families, and communities.
The Disaster Resilience Program will provide funding for a small cohort of Fellows to increase capacity for legal services organizations that are currently addressing legal issues of low-income residents impacted by disasters in the Midwest. Equal Justice Works, as the nation’s largest facilitator of opportunities in public interest law, will support the Fellows and collaborate with the host legal services organizations (“host organizations”) throughout the implementation of the program.

Delaware Diversity Job Fair
The 34th Annual Delaware Diversity Job Fair (DDJF) to be held VIRTUALLY on Friday, May 16, 2025. The DDJF was founded by a consortium of Delaware law firm, corporate, and public sector/interest legal employers committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the Delaware bar by encouraging interested law students to explore career opportunities in Delaware.
DDJF invites rising 2L/3LED (2027) and rising 3L/4LED (2026) students interested in 2026 2L Summer Associate or full-time positions with law firms, government, public sector and public interest employers in Delaware to apply. Similar to your school’s OCI format, students may apply to one, some or all of our participating legal employers.
Virtual interviews, hosted via FloRecruit, will take place between 10:00 am (ET) and 1:30 pm (ET) on May 16, 2025. Pre-selected students will receive an invitation to interview with one or more legal employers through the DDJF in April and be asked to accept or decline by May 1. Additional information about the DDJF, including confirmed interview timing and virtual access details, will be provided to participating students in early May.

Summer Grants Program is Accepting Applications for Summer 2025
- 1Ls & 2Ls: The Summer Grants Program has funds available to ease the financial burden of Iowa Law students working in unpaid summer positions (including judicial chambers). Several grants are available, including funds raised by the Equal Justice Foundation. Check out the descriptions and requirements of available grants in the Instructions & Information document, and then start your application at our website, https://law.uiowa.edu/summer-grants-program.
- Students may apply at any time, once they have secured a position; awards of $1000 per student will be made on a rolling basis, while funds remain. Additional specialized awards are available; students must apply by April 1, 2025.

The UI Center for Human Rights offers two sources of funding to support law students engaged in rights-related summer ex/internships. The Weston ($2500 single recipient) and Cmiel (multiple awards) programs support travel, housing, and incidentals. Informational sessions will be held on March 27 & April 2 (3:00-3:30 pm) via Zoom. Registration for the info sessions, funding eligibility, and application requirements may be found

Public Defender Mentorship Program
The Iowa State Public Defender will offer a Monday Mentors program beginning at 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 or later if warranted. It will take place every Monday thereafter at the same time and via the same zoom link provided below. The idea is to provide a time for young public defenders, contract attorneys, and aspiring law students to ask questions whether related to a specific case, criminal defense in general, or career questions, and obtain feedback and guidance from others similarly situated and from defense attorneys with years of experience. Breakout rooms will be provided as needed to facilitate communication. We hope you take advantage of this program. If you are interested in public defense, and cannot make the Monday meetings, please reach out to Kimberly DePalma at kdepalma@spd.state.ia.us.
