After working as a dental hygienist for several years, PhD candidate Jennifer Sukalski began pursuing health disparities research on access and use of dental care in Iowa. The UI College of Dentistry is teaming up with the UI Carver College of Medicine and the UI College of Nursing to host a University of Iowa Health Sciences Reception before the Citrus Bowl. Women in Dentistry Story Time at Sidekick Coffee and Books

On December 5, 2021, the University of Iowa chapter of the American Association of Women Dentists hosted a Tooth Fairy Story Time at Sidekick Coffee and Books. The participating dental students and the tooth fairy visited the coffee shop, told stories, and did a science experiment. The event, as always, was well received and was an opportunity to promote oral health in the community. The dental students who participated included Abhigna Akurathi, Michaela Bobenhouse, Marci Franzluebbers, Lyndi Heldenbrand, Michaela Mathews, Emma Miller, McKenna Moreland, Megha Sagar, Audrey Uridil, and Makenzi Zikas.

Juan Martinez

The College of Dentistry Welcomes Juan Martinez

Juan Martinez has joined the College of Dentistry as a Support Services Specialist. He previously worked as a clerk in the neurosurgery clinic at UIHC. He is from Conesville, IA, a small town. He is a very outgoing person, and he enjoys the outdoors, watching and attending football and hockey games, and shopping. He values his time with friends and family, and is excited to start his journey at the College of Dentistry.
