From the Chair

Dear alumni and friends,

We are delighted to present the inaugural edition of our departmental newsletter!  Through this biannual communication, we hope to share noteworthy happenings, achievements, and milestones from our department, as we strive to keep you connected and informed about the many exciting developments taking place within our academic community.

This newsletter will be curated to compile announcements, stories, and articles about the department.  However, we also aim to use it as a means to provide updates on our alumni.  To achieve this objective, please send us news and announcements at Biostatistics@uiowa.edu, along with any information you’d like to share about yourself, either personally or professionally.  Through this newsletter, we hope to develop a platform where we can connect, interact, and engage.

This first newsletter focuses on the 2022-2023 academic year.  As you peruse the content, you’ll hopefully gain a more complete understanding of what’s been happening at your alma mater!  We continue to be blessed with accomplished faculty, who consistently advance our educational, training, and research missions through their dedication and innovation; with committed and collegial staff whose tireless efforts allow us to achieve our academic and scientific objectives; and with exceptionally talented, amiable, and thoughtful students who never cease to amaze, impress, and inspire!

We hope that this newsletter will strengthen the connection between our current faculty, staff, and students, and our alumni and friends who have left an indelible imprint on our department, and who continue to make us proud through their personal and professional accomplishments!

We hope that your summer has been both pleasant and productive!

Sincerely,

Joseph E. Cavanaugh, PhD
