Screening systems flag them as spam or scams - they're discarded before they can do harm. But some deceptive and dangerous emails slip through. That's why it's essential to recognize email phishing scams and take proactive steps to protect yourself.
Here's what you can do:
- Delete requests for sensitive info. Phishing emails try to trick you into giving up passwords or account numbers, often by pointing to phony websites.
- Don't click suspicious links. Hover over links to see the addresses they point to.
- Use multi-factor authentication for university and personal logins. Learn more at its.uiowa.edu/two-step.
- Know the signs of phishing. Find information and examples at its.uiowa.edu/phishing.
If an email feels like phishing, it probably is. Trust your instincts. Reach out to the HCIS Help Desk or the ITS Help Desk with any questions. | | | Quad Cities Pediatric Cardiology Team Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Clinic Location The Quad Cities Pediatric Cardiology team celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their clinic location. Patient Comments from the Pediatric Specialty Clinic
"Dr. Tran and her team are always so warm and gentle, caring, and professional and take the time to listen and discuss and provide advice. We look forward to appointments. Our daughter (the patient) has an easy time during appointments and is always at ease around Dr. Tran and the team. The nurse in the blood draw area was fantastic and kept our daughter relaxed and entertained while doing a long finger prick blood draw. No tears!" - patient of Hao Tran, MD, FAAP

The study, published recently in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, also showed that the addition of hemodynamic screening was also linked to lower incidence of several other complications such as severe lung disease and necrotizing enterocolitis, a serious intestinal disease.
