DOD CDMRP shares pre-announcement of Ovarian Cancer Research Program.

The FY24 Defense Appropriations Bill has not been signed into law. Although FY24 funds have not been appropriated, CDMRP is providing the information in this pre-announcement to allow investigators time to plan and develop ideas for submission to anticipated FY24 funding opportunities. Several mechanisms are anticipated including: Pilot Award, Investigator-Initiated Research Award, Clinical Trial Award, Clinical Trial Translational Endpoints Award, Ovarian Cancer Academy – Leadership Award, Ovarian Cancer Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award, Ovarian Cancer Clinical Trial Academy – Early-Career Investigator Award.

This panel session will provide an opportunity to hear from four accomplished award recipients regarding their experience with the application process, need-to-know information, plus much more.

The Emerging Mathematics in Biology (eMB) program seeks to stimulate fundamental interdisciplinary and potentially transformative research pertaining to the development of innovative mathematical/statistical/computational theories, tools, and modeling approaches to investigate challenging questions of great interest to biologists and public health policymakers.

NIH: Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams (RM1 - Clinical Trial Optional)

Description: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed to support highly integrated research teams of three to six Program Directors/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs) to address ambitious and challenging research questions that are within the mission of NIGMS. Project goals should not be achievable with a collection of individual efforts or projects. Collaborative program teams are expected to accomplish goals that require considerable synergy and managed team interactions. Teams are encouraged to consider far-reaching objectives that will produce major advances in their fields.
Prior Consultation with IC Staff: NIGMS intends to fund a limited number of applications. Therefore, consultation with relevant staff at least 10 weeks prior to the application due date is strongly encouraged. See PAR for contact info.

NIH: Jointly Sponsored Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (T32 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The Jointly Sponsored NIH Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (JSPTPN) is an institutional program that supports broad and fundamental research training in the neurosciences. In addition to a broad education in the neurosciences, a key component will be a curriculum that provides a strong foundation in experimental design, statistical methodology and quantitative reasoning. JSPTPN programs are intended to be 2 years in duration and students may only be appointed to this training grant during the first 2 years of their graduate research training. The primary objective is to prepare students to be well-trained scientists equipped to pursue careers in neuroscience.

NIH: Team-Based Design in Biomedical Engineering Education (R25 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation’s biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on: Courses for Skills Development.

NSF: EPSCoR Collaborations for Optimizing Research Ecosystems Research Infrastructure Improvement Program

Description: The Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) fulfills the mandate of the National Science Foundation (NSF) to promote scientific progress nationwide. Through this program, NSF facilitates the establishment of partnerships among academic institutions, government, industry, and non-profit sectors that are designed to promote sustainable improvements in the research infrastructure, Research and Development (R&D) capacity, and R&D competitiveness of EPSCoR-eligible jurisdictions (i.e., states, territories, and commonwealths).
