NIH issues a request for applications to the Consortium for Palliative Care Research Across the Lifespan Opportunity (U54 Clinical Trial Optional).

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) invites applications proposing the development of a specialized center also known as “Consortium.” The aim of the Consortium will be to provide resources, expertise, and coordination to advance innovative, high-quality research on palliative care for those living with serious illnesses across the lifespan. The research infrastructure will encompass Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and AD-related dementias (ADRD), cancer, and other serious illnesses and populations relevant to NIH’s partnering Institutes, Centers, and Offices (ICOs). LOI are due May 31, 2024 and full applications due July 2, 2024.

OVPR requests applications to the Radiochemistry Seed Grant Opportunity.

The Research Development Office within the University of Iowa Office of the Vice the President for Research (OVPR) seeks collaborative Interdisciplinary Radiochemistry Research proposals with awards up to $45,000 for 18 months as part of the Seeding Excellence Initiative. Successful proposals must focus on research projects that integrate radiochemistry with other disciplines, fostering advancements in scientific knowledge, technology, and applications. Interdisciplinary applications are encouraged that transcend traditional boundaries and address pressing societal challenges in fields such as medicine, environmental sciences, nuclear energy, materials science, and more. The goal of these awards is to enable teams of researchers to build on new and/or existing strengths to achieve significant growth in interdisciplinary radiochemistry research and applications. Letters of Interest (LOIs) are due April 12, with full applications due June 14.

HRSA: National Organizations of State and Local Officials: State Health Services and Financing

Description: This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the National Organizations of State and Local Officials (NOSLO) Program: State Health Services and Financing to fund a national level organization with an in-depth understanding of, and experience with, providing technical assistance and support to State Medicaid Directors and other health care payment officials to assist states in leveraging HRSA programs and collaborating with Medicaid to improve access to quality health care for high need communities. Activities should include but are not limited to fostering collaborations to address maternal health disparities, bolster the health workforce, integrate behavioral health into primary care, and expand access to care for people in high need communities, such as those who live rural areas, are exiting incarceration, have HIV, and youth with unmet behavioral health needs.

NIH: Developmental Centers for AIDS Research (P30 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for the Developmental Centers for AIDS Research (D-CFAR) program to provide administrative and shared research support to enhance HIV/AIDS research. D-CFARs provide core facilities, expertise, resources, and services not readily obtained otherwise through more traditional funding mechanisms. Additionally, D-CFARs provide support to assist investigators in the development of a competitive standard CFAR. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration across all areas of HIV/AIDS research.

NIH: Neuroscience Development for Advancing the Careers of a Diverse Research Workforce (R25 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this R25 program is to support educational activities that encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in research. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this NOFO will support educational activities with a primary focus on: 1.) Courses for Skills Development, 2.) Research Experiences, and 3.) Mentoring Activities. This NIH Neuroscience Development for Advancing the Careers of a Diverse Research Workforce (R25) is a flexible and specialized program designed to foster the development of neuroscience researchers from diverse backgrounds, including individuals from underrepresented groups, across the specified career stages.

Description: The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity is to invite Institutional Network Awards (U2C-TL1) to cultivate a highly integrated cohort of trainees and early career investigators and to develop career development resources to accelerate kidney, urologic, and hematologic research. To maximize integration and promote a true trainee community, Institutions are invited to submit a single, unified U2C-TL1 application to engage, recruit, prepare, and sustain the next generation of scientists able to contribute to advancing research in kidney, urology, and hematology.
