Staff Council President Helps Plan for the Future

Heather Mineart, Staff Council President, has been appointed as a liaison officer to the UI Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT), along with the other shared governance leaders. In accordance with National Incident Management System (NIMS), the CIMT is responsible for managing and directing the activities of the various departments that will be involved in crisis incident response and recovery. Protect Yourself - Get a Flu Shot!

Even during a pandemic, the flu rears its ugly head. To protect yourself and your loved ones, plan to get a flu shot. For UI employees and their family members who are on their insurance, flu shots are free. There are many locations to which you can go. Use this ReadySet guide to find out how to register or to find the website for registering for this year’s shot. Be sure to bring your UI ID to the vaccination location. Campus Climate Survey and Working at Iowa

The University of Iowa strives to create and maintain a positive working environment for employees and students. However, the university also recognizes that it needs to constantly review and assess its successes and shortcomings in order to meet changing circumstances. Staff Councilors Win Awards

Yashwant Prakash Vyas who is the Assistant Director of Diversity Resources in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion was awarded the 2020 Edward S. Blankenship Outstanding Staff Award from Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars.  More information on Yashwant's accomplishment is included in a recent Iowa Now article.  

Dr. Zach Girazian who is an Assistant Research Scientist in the Department of Physics & Astronomy was awarded $200,000 NASA grant to study “Solar Wind Induced Magnetic Fields in the Ionospheres of Venus and Mars”
