Summer 2022 | | | The University of Iowa Staff Council (UISC) plays a pivotal role for staff advocacy and shared governance across campus. Comprising 55 elected members, UISC seats representatives by both unit and function. Councilors meet monthly to discuss initiatives, programs, and strategic goals that impact staff. UISC collaborates with other shared governance organizations (Faculty Senate, Undergraduate Student Government, and Graduate and Professional Student Government), and organizes events designed to increase engagement and volunteerism. | | Isaac Podolefsky is committed to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a Senior IT Project Manager in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Technology Services, one of Isaac’s responsibilities is to supervise staff and student employees. Last fall, Isaac was having a conversation with one of his student employees, Rupanti Bose, when she mentioned that she tells people the wrong pronunciation of her name. While there is no guaranteed way to ensure your trusty steed will be at the rack when you return, there are a number of best practices to increase your odds of preventing a theft or recovering the bike in the event it is stolen. In her role, Rosenblum oversees the day-to-day operations of the Staff Council. Rosenblum came to the university after a 30-year career working for a global corporation in the travel technology field. That role had her working remotely. When the time came for a new opportunity, she was looking for something that gave her a connection to the community she lived in. Read more... | | | For the past several years, OnIowa! volunteers have welcomed first-year undergraduates and transfer students to the UI campus. They coordinate explorations of campus, business “crawls,” facilities tours, introductions to organizations that connect students, and lots of fun social activities to help students transition to college life. They also provide students and staff with opportunities to help students move into their new living spaces - i.e. the residence halls.
