UI approves P3 funding to support two projects, ongoing initiatives in FY25

The University of Iowa has awarded P3 funding for fiscal year 2025 to initiatives that will enhance student success, support research, and improve campus infrastructure. The funding will include the implementation of two projects to study the effects of climate change in the Midwest and support health research efforts.

Our Hawkeye student-athletes are working hard to bring black and gold to the world’s biggest stage. Past and present student-athletes in several sports — including artistic gymnastics, basketball, freestyle wrestling, rowing, and track and field — hope to compete in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games July 26—Aug. 11 in Paris. How Iowa’s former president Sandy Boyd became collector-in-chief

Before his death in 2022, former UI President Willard “Sandy” Boyd made finding presidential collectibles a lifelong hobby, amassing nearly 2,500 books about U.S. presidents and many other artifacts. You can now see the Boyd Presidential Collection in an exhibit through August in the Boyd Law Building, as well as a digital presentation celebrating the life of the university’s 15th president.

During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Ethan Hawke spoke about the new film he directed, Wildcat, which follows the life of Iowa Writers’ Workshop alumna Flannery O’Connor. He also took time to praise the workshop’s writers, saying, “The writers that came out of this program, it will blow you away. They changed the way we think, this community of people.”

To enhance student well-being and make mental health resources more accessible, Campus Safety has added 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline decals to all police squad cars and Nite Ride vehicles. The decals feature the national suicide and crisis lifeline number, which offers a 24/7 confidential connection to counselors for those who need assistance.

Helping students chart personalized career paths

A new tool called My Career Path delivers career-planning recommendations to students based on their career interests, work-related experiences, previous career planning, and short-term goals.
