We recently made a change to the way restriction verbiage is seen in MyUI. We did this to provide more information to users about what the restriction means. No programming or criteria changes were made to existing restrictions.
We also became aware that the “Restricted to Majors” restriction includes certificate and non-degree students, if your department offers a program of study with a certificate or non-degree declaration type. Because of that, we updated the web description for the “Restricted to Majors” restriction to display “Restricted to Majors and Certificate Students.”
In our effort to provide more transparency about the population included in the Restricted to Majors restriction, we created some confusion, and for that we apologize. We are going to remove the “certificate” reference from the Restricted to Majors web description. Please keep in mind this only changes the description, not the restriction programming.
The following restrictions include declaration types of major, certificate, and non-degree:
- Restricted to Majors
- Restricted to undergraduate majors
- Restricted to Nursing and Nursing Interest Majors
We welcome your feedback. If your department offers programs of study with a certificate or non-degree declaration type, could you please let us know if you were assuming certificates and non-degree students would be excluded when using one of the restrictions mentioned above or included when using the Restricted to Non-Majors?
