Welcome to the Spring 23 Semester! 

The easiest time to make adjustments to your Spring Schedule is by Monday, January 23rd!

  • 1/17/23-1/23/23: Add, drop, or change existing registration on MyUI  
  • 1/24/23: Course drops on MyUI require advisor’s approval; course adds on MyUI require advisor and instructor/department approval 
  • 1/30/23: Last day to drop without a W and last day to drop individual courses for tuition/fee reduction

 

World Language Ambassadors Program

Being a World Languages Student Ambassador is an exciting volunteer experience where you get the opportunity to showcase your passion for language learning and share your experiences while enhancing your leadership skills.

Citizen Diplomat Training

Global Ties Iowa volunteers have the opportunity to greet, guide, and host emerging international leaders from all around the world, discover new cultures and help further our mission of connecting the world and the heartland.

It's on Saturday, January 21st from 10-12pm at the Coralville Public Library, the Schwab Auditorium.

Topics include new COVID-19 protocols, Hosting Iowa Table Dinners, and your role as a professional meeting and cultural activity guide.

This opportunity is for everyone – students, members, and new and experienced volunteers! They especially encourage you to bring friends, family, or colleagues who might be interested in volunteering but haven't yet gotten involved. They hope to see you there!

Global Ties Iowa is hiring a Social Media and Storytelling Intern and a Program Intern for Spring 2023! These are semester-long, hybrid internships (10-hour per-week commitment) with a $1,000 stipend. Interns play a critical role in the success of our mission. By contributing to our operations, interns enhance their global cultural competency and implement significant projects while working in a professional setting.

Iowa City Chinese Association Lunar New Year Gala

The Iowa City Area Chinese Association is holding a Lunar New Year Gala with music and dance performances in the Englert Theater from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, Sunday, January 22, 2023, for the celebration of Lunar New Year. It's completely FREE for students.

Upward Bound Summer Residential Job Applications OPEN

The Upward Bound Summer Program will be FULLY in-person Summer 2023 and will run from June 24th – August 4th, 2023, with an additional required Week on the Road on August 7th-11th, on the University of Iowa campus. Job descriptions/applications are available via Handshake or paper applications which can be acquired at the Center for Inclusive Academic Excellence (CIAE) Front Desk.

There is six openings for three positions:

  • Head Resident Mentor (1) – Supervises Resident Mentors and participants; works closely with The UB Residential Specialist
  • Bridge Resident Mentor (1) – Works closely with incoming first-year college students and recent high school graduates
  • Rising Resident Mentor (4) – Works closely with participants ranging from 10th grade to 12th grade

Applications will be accepted until FEBRUARY 17TH, 2023 at 11:59 PM. All applications can be emailed to Tristan Schmidt (tristan-schmidt@uiowa.edu) or dropped off at the CIAE front desk.

Seeking a residential, on-campus Summer positions?; Upward Bound is looking for enthusiastic individuals to apply for our summer Resident Mentor positions!
