Football Shuttles
Football shuttles will be posted online at 4 p.m on Friday, August 11. These shifts are first-come, first-serve. All football shifts come with a differential and most also come with a free ticket to the game. A link to the sign-up will be sent in an email to all employees once it is available.
How do football shuttles work?
Football shuttles start 2 hours before kickoff (shifts clock in 2.5 hours before kickoff) and run continuous loops until kickoff. The loops are:
- Between Hancher and VA Loop
- Between the Pentacrest and VA Loop
- Between the Hawk Lot and Carver
At kickoff, buses are parked at the barn. All drivers (except two in-game shuttles) have the option to either use a free ticket to go to the game, or go on a food run and hang out at the barn during the game.
At the end of the 3rd quarter, all football shifts return to the barn to start post-game service. Post-game service runs continuous loops for about 45 minute after the game ends.
You are paid the entire time, even during the game/food run. With the exception of the in-game shuttles, most shifts drive about 3 hours out of the whole day, but are paid for 11+ hours.
What are the shift times and differentials?
All shifts are paid about time and a half. There are three types of shifts for football shuttles:
- Standard shifts that do not drive during the game punch in 2.5 hours before the game and are 7.5 hours long. These shifts are paid a total of 11.3 hours for the day.
- In-game shuttles punch in 2.5 hours before the game, are also 7.5 hours long, and drive throughout the game. These shifts are paid a total of 13.5 hours for the day. Typically support will help coordinate a food run/delivery for the in-game shuttle drivers.
- Early Hancher shifts clock in 3 hours before the game to do a special VIP shuttle prior to regular pre-game operations. These shifts are 8 hours long and are paid 12 hours.
Can I sign off or WBI a football shuttle if I decide I do not want to work it?
No - these shifts are just like any other special service. They can not be signed off or WBI'd. You may, however, find someone to work your shift for you if you'd like.
What about football games where the game time is not posted?
Some football games do not have set start times yet. If you sign up for a football shuttle when the game time has not yet been posted, please be sure you can work the shift regardless of the game start time. WBI's will not be excused due to the game start time announcement.
