Jun Wang, James E. Ashton Professor of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, has helped launch a new speaker series called the University of Iowa’s Climate/Atmospheric Science and Engineering (CASE) Colloquium. The series focuses on the challenges of climate change from the perspective of climate and atmospheric research.

The CASE Colloquium is co-sponsored by the Iowa Technology Institute, Center for Global and Regional Environmental Research, IIHR Hydroscience and Engineering, Environmental Health Sciences Research Center, Iowa Superfund Research Program, College of Engineering, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education, Tippie College of Business, and the Office of the Vice President for Research.

It meets once per month on one of the Fridays of each month, from 2 - 3 p.m. Replays of the first two speakers are online at https://iti.uiowa.edu/whats-happening/events/case-colloquium-speaker-series. Stay tuned for announcements about upcoming speakers.

ITI selected to host 7th International Digital Human Modeling Symposium

ITI has been selected to host the 7th International Digital Human Modeling (DHM) Symposium, August 29-31, 2022, in Iowa City, Iowa. The event will be held in conjunction with ITI’s third annual Iowa Virtual Human Summit. 

Iowa researchers develop new model using satellite data to measure air pollution from soil

Research started at ITI has led to a new assessment model that scientists believe will yield more accurate estimates of nitrogen oxides from soil, which are increasingly responsible for air pollution.

Simpson joins leadership team for UI Staff Council

Jenny Simpson, ITI's administrative services coordinator, was recently appointed as the Budget Officer for the UI Staff Council. This includes serving on the Executive Committee. Jenny also continues her role as the organization representative for the College of Engineering on the Staff Council.

Congratulations, Prof. Jacob

Mathews Jacob, professor of electrical and computer engineering and an ITI faculty affiliate, received the Faculty Excellence Award for Research during the College of Engineering Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards in May. Partnership Spotlight: Titus Human Performance

A relationship forged between ITI and Titus Human Performance at the 2019 Defense Strategies Institute’s Human Performance & Biosystems Summit in Washington D.C. quickly evolved into a productive public-private partnership leveraging each other’s capabilities to tackle projects neither could alone.

The PhD student from Wheaton, Ill., is studying electrical and computer engineering under the mentorship of Ananya Sen Gupta, assistant professor of computer and electrical engineering.
