Funding Landscape

The Iowa Initiative for Artificial Intelligence issues a call for Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Pilot Research Proposals.

The Iowa Initiative for Artificial Intelligence, with the UI’s P3 funding, is seeking pilot research proposals for interdisciplinary research projects that require Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) expertise and dedicated AI/ML computational resources. Proposals are due October 25, 2024.  

ICTS announces a call for applications to the Pilot Grant Program for Clinical and Translational Science.

The UI ICTS is pleased to announce a call for applications to our Pilot Grant Program that encourages multidisciplinary team science. Awards are for $25,000 for a funding period starting in April 2025 through March 2026. Proposals are due October 18, 2024.

NSF: Safety, Security, and Privacy of Open-Source Ecosystems (Safe-OSE)

Description: To respond to the growing threats to the safety, security, and privacy of open-source ecosystems (OSEs), NSF is launching the Safety, Security, and Privacy for Open-Source Ecosystems (Safe-OSE) program. This program solicits proposals from OSEs, including those not originally funded by NSF’s Pathways to Enable Open-Source Ecosystems (POSE) program, to address significant safety, security, and/or privacy vulnerabilities, both technical (e.g., vulnerabilities in code and side-channels) and socio-technical (e.g., supply chain, insider threats, and social engineering).
Limitation: two preliminary proposals per institution

NSF: Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM)

Description: The main goal of the S-STEM program is to enable low-income students with academic ability, talent or potential to pursue successful careers in promising STEM fields. Ultimately, the S-STEM program seeks to increase the number of academically promising low-income students who graduate with a S-STEM eligible degree and contribute to the American innovation economy with their STEM knowledge.

Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award 2025

Description: The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program supports the research and teaching careers of talented early career faculty in the chemical sciences. The Award, which requires an institutional nomination, is based on an independent body of scholarship attained in the early years of their appointment, and a demonstrated commitment to education, signaling the promise of continuing outstanding contributions to both research and teaching.
Eligibility: Must hold a full-time tenure-track academic appointment focused on the chemical sciences and be within the first six years of independent academic career.

NIH: Collaborative Program Grant for Multidisciplinary Teams (RM1 - Clinical Trial Optional)

Description: This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed to support highly integrated research teams of three to six Program Directors/Principal Investigators (PDs/PIs) to address ambitious and challenging research questions that are within the mission of NIGMS. Project goals should not be achievable with a collection of individual efforts or projects.
