Jackson, Schermer to receive honorary degrees this spring

More than 5,400 University of Iowa students will receive their degrees during in-person and livestreamed commencement ceremonies this weekend, beginning with tonight’s College of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy ceremony and concluding with the College of Dentistry’s ceremony June 2.

Mathematics department administrator Margaret Driscol has worked for the University of Iowa for more than half a century. She started working in the department after high school to save money for college and never left. “I’m proud to work here. I like all the people I work with and those I have met over the years, and I love the students.”

Work at Madison and Jefferson streets scheduled to begin Monday
If you travel in the area of Madison and Jefferson streets near the IMU, please be aware of a city project scheduled to begin Monday, May 15. Extensive street patching at the intersection is expected to last three weeks. All streets will remain open and bus access will be maintained; however, various lane shifts will take place throughout the project. Delays are possible, so plan accordingly.
