International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. The 2022 theme is People in Transit.

Night of 1000 Dinners: March 8, 2022 / 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM CST/ Virtual Event
Night of 1000 Dinners is a fundraiser celebrating International Women's Day and local women-led organizations that are making a difference in Johnson County.
Join us for international music, dance, art, and spoken-word performances as we celebrate International Women's Day by honoring three women-led organizations: Inside Out Reentry Community, Iowa City Compassion, and Open Heartland. All three are advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals and aiding people in transition. Proceeds will benefit these organization plus the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Organized by the Johnson County Chapter of the United Nations Association USA. Tickets are $10 for students.

Becoming South Korean Mothers: North Korean Defector Mothers in South Korea
Friday, March 11th, 2022 from 12:00 p.m to 1:30 p.m CT Guest speaker Dr. Jeongeun Lee brings together two bodies of scholarship that are rarely connected: refugees/defectors and motherhood. By focusing on North Korean defector mothers’ own voices as “women” and “mothers,” – not just as “defectors,” this talk highlights that their defection status continues even after resettlement and while dealing with the process of becoming “South Koreans” and “transnational mothers” with children left behind in North Korea and/or China.

The On Iowa! Leader position is a unique volunteer experience that offers a rewarding opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
- On Iowa! Leaders serve as a mentor to approximately 25 new UI students
- They facilitate small group activities while also participating in move-in, Kickoff at Kinnick, Convocation, and other large events throughout the week
- Leaders are expected to be available and in Iowa City from Friday, August 12th – Sunday, August 21st from 8a-11pm. Students will receive a schedule during the summer that will detail their commitments so they can begin to plan around their On Iowa! shifts before the week of the events.
- Leaders are also expected to attend ONE interview session (March 29th or 30th) and ONE spring training session (April 19th or 20th)

PAID Internship for 2022-23: Pomerantz Career Center Peer Advisors
The Pomerantz Career Center is hiring Career Peer Advisor Interns for the 2022-2023 academic year! This is a great opportunity to work closely with undergraduate students by supporting their career and professional development through activities like resume/cover letter writing, LinkedIn and Handshake profile development, internship and job searching, and more! As a Career Peer Advisor, you will work one-on-one with students during drop-in and virtual appointments and will be able to build on your communication and public speaking skills by assisting with programs and presentations around campus.

President's Leadership Class: Opportunity for SECOND YEAR students in 2022-23 AY
PLC is a three-hour, credit-bearing course that meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-3:15pm in fall 2022. This second-year experience gives you an inside look at the university, focuses on developing your student leadership through team and campus projects. Applications are open from Monday February 21 – Tuesday March 22 to current first year students. Underrepresented Students in Sustainability (USS) Support Fund
The Underrepresented Students in Sustainability (USS) Support Fund is designed to financially support undergraduates from minority or disadvantaged backgrounds exploring careers in sustainability & the environment. The Speaking Center offers quality, one-on-one and small group tutoring and consultations to students and instructors on campus who would like to work on any aspect of oral communication. We also offer workshops (pre-recorded or live) on public speaking, poster presentations, group communication, communicating science to the public, and workshops designed specifically for your needs.
Iowa Digital Engagement and Learning (IDEAL) works with instructors to develop community-based, digital assignment projects for their students. IDEAL media tutors provide students with technological and production support for any digital composition, from creating a PowerPoint to editing a video to creating a website.
The Conversation Center offers one-on-one appointments for conversations in English with students enrolled in the Rhetoric Conversation Practicum.
