UI unveils plan for revitalizing historic Art Building
Since its construction in 1936 to its vacancy after the 2008 flood, the old Art Building has had a storied history on campus. Now, the University of Iowa is seeking permission from the Iowa Board of Regents to begin remodeling the building for the future home of the Graduate College. The UI intends to purchase the remainder of Old Capitol Town Center in downtown Iowa City. Currently, the university owns about 55% of the mall and has used the space as the University Capitol Centre. The UI will ask the Iowa Board of Regents for permission to proceed with the purchase, which would become final in 2027, at the board’s meeting next week.

If you and your family love Disney’s Encanto, you won’t want to miss the sing-along film concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Hancher Auditorium. A live band will play the soundtrack during the movie, and attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character. Tickets are available online, by phone, or at the Hancher Box Office.
