Delaney Hoffman

Delaney Hoffman (MFA Photography student) received a 2025 Marcus Bach Fellowship. The fellowship’s goal is to foster intercultural communication and/or the understanding of diverse philosophies and religious perspectives. 

Hoffman’s work is concerned with the intersection of the mystical and the institutional, from still lifes of venerated specimens in museum displays to self-portraits interrogating the efficacy of the Prophet.

Painting and Drawing

Painting and Drawing graduate students, faculty, and alumni are in Body Boundaries at Project Project in Omaha until March 7, curated by Professor T.J. Dedeaux-Norris.

This group exhibition explores the ways we think about, confront, and abstract the body through diverse artistic practices.

3D Design

3D Design students and Professor Monica Correia exhibited their work at the 2025 Interior Design Show Toronto.

IDS is the premier showcase of upcoming talent, avant-garde concepts, and experts in the design industry from North America and beyond.

Amelia Goldsby

Amelia Goldsby (PhD Art History candidate) presented her dissertation research at the Historians of Eighteenth-Century Art and Architecture 2025 Emerging Scholars Showcase.

Her dissertation, Trees as Bodies of Communication: The Arboreal Aesthetic in French Painting, 1780-1870, proposes that an “arboreal aesthetic” contributed narrative complexity to paintings while reflecting contemporaneous notions of tree-human relationships.

Alumni News

Bruce Dorfman

Bruce Dorfman (MA 1958) was honored with a $100,000 extension to the Bruce Dorfman Grant for Assemblage and Mixed Media at the Art Students League of New York.

The grant, extended by the Niner Foundation, was established by artist and business leader Ron Strackbein for student artists working in mixed media and assemblage, in which Dorfman has played a significant role as an artist and teacher since 1964.

Drawn Between

Drawn Between: Possibility and Inevitability is on view until March 8 at Public Space One. The exhibition was curated by Jeremy Chen (MFA Printmaking and Sculpture 2006) with drawings by Jen P. Harris, R Kauff (MFA Printmaking and Sculpture 2017), Kathranne Knight, and Ajdin Kulić.

According to Chen, the show explores the connection between possibility and inevitability that comes with the act of drawing. Learn more in a Daily Iowan feature article.
