College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics

Dean's Message

As we step into the promising year of 2024, I extend my warmest greetings to each and every member of our esteemed dental college community – faculty, staff, alumni, and students alike. May this year bring us all new opportunities, growth, and success. I hope everyone was able to relax, recharge, and come back to the DSB reinvigorated for the upcoming semester. On another note, Monday is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This national holiday is a reminder of King’s message, which remains relevant 61 years later. For the college it means that it is vital to support and value a diverse range of voices. We must respect and understand those who are different than ourselves. It will make our college stronger and push our mission of advancing oral health in Iowa and beyond through education, research, and person-centered care further. At the end of the day, we are all looking to have a positive and fulfilling human experience. Cheers! ~Clark Stanford

Oladayo highlighted in Dare to Discover Campaign

Abimbola Oladayo is a PhD student under the guidance of Azeez Butali, professor of oral pathology, radiology, and medicine. She was named a 2024 Dare to Discover student. In short, Oladayo aims to provide a unique perspective into exploring diversity in genetic and genomic research in minority populations by examining the perspective and needs of the major stakeholders involved in care delivery, identify the knowledge gaps, and develop interventions which will facilitate the incorporation of genomic medicine into their practice.
